Ready Mix Driver

The following is a list of duties all ready mix drivers have to perform on the job. 

Physical duties that need to be performed on or around a ready mix truck are: 

  • Sitting (driving), standing and walking.
  • Climbing in and out of the cab (about 4 times per load).
  • Lifting body weight (entering and exiting truck), climbing ladders, operate machinery, lift & secure 50-60 lb. cute (repeatedly, daily and overhead)
  • Climb: 2 steps into cab (4 times per load) and another 4 steps to the crow’s nest – top of truck (2 times per load).   
  • Walk around: job site, truck or company grounds.
  • Driving consists of duties such as: turning, braking, blowing the horn, turning lights on and the trucks are automatic. 

**The amount of loads per day will depend on the number of customer orders.

  • A busy summer day there will be about 4-6 loads.
  • A busy winter day there will be about 2-4 loads.

**Each load can take from 30 minutes to about 3 hours (depending on the job and customer).

On the average, one load of concrete will consist of the following duties.

 The list is designed to show physical duties.

  1. Climb into the truck and drive under the plant to get loaded. While being loaded the driver may need water, the water hose needs to be placed into the water tank (2 inch diameter hose and tank is located behind the cab-about 5ft high).  Also, the driver will need a ticket if he/she did not take it before getting into the truck (walk into the office).
  2. After being loaded, back the truck out and drive to the designated area. Get out of the cab and climb to the crow’s nest and wash the excess material off the drum with the garden hose.  Climb down from the crow’s nest and get into the cab and drive to the site.
  3. When arriving at the site, drive up to where the concrete is needed. Get out of the cab and hook the chute(s) on and get back into the truck.  Pour the concrete by using the controls in the truck (moving levers left, right, forward, and backwards).
  4. When finished with pouring the concrete, drive off to the side to wash the barrel out and the chute(s) off. To due this get out of the cab, climb up to the crow’s nest and spray the barrel down with the garden hose.  Climb down off the truck and spray the chute(s) off.  Unhook the chute(s) and place back onto the truck.  The driver returns to the plant and waits for the next command.
  5. Operate the technical aspects of a mixer truck, operate radios & communication equipment

This position will aid in the administration of the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources area. Recruiting employees, entering information of new employees and benefits into Quick Books and systems. Updating job ads, conducting interviews, background checks and new hire orientation. The candidate must be proficient and knowledgeable with Human Resources best practices and with all aspects of employee benefits administration and compliance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform day to day Human Resources administration and maintenance of employee information and records i.e., benefits, medical files, I-9 E-Verify.
  • Daily update of employee records information and changes on QuickBooks.
  • Assist with recruitment, selecting, interviewing, orienting, and training employees.
  • Overall day to day administration and compliance of all employee benefits, worker’s compensation, uniforms, etc.
  • Assist employees with employment policies and benefits inquires in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Administer and monitor DOT records to assure compliance. i.e., medical cards
  • Reconcile and process monthly benefit invoices for payment. Timely submission of payroll – related cost to accounting and management for employees’ deductions.
  • Support management with employee reviews, counseling, corrections, and terminations.
  • Continuous education and research on changes on federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Perform special assignments and administrative duties.

    Job Summary:

    Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager or Master Mechanic with minimum supervision, performs repairs and maintenance on vehicle systems, to include all trucks systems, brakes, and transmission, be proficient in the computer technology sufficient to diagnose and repair. Schooled in all aspects of Truck and Machinery Repair and General Maintenance.

    Essential Job Duties/Functions:

    • Work independently on established preventive maintenance inspections and be responsible for making all adjustments and repairs as required.
    • Must be able to work as part of the of a professional maintenance team to maintain company vehicular equipment to Manufacturer and State legal standards.
    • Be punctual, and maintain a good work ethic with appropriate office attire as designated by Management to present a professional image.

    • Troubleshoots equipment issues to determine most cost effective approach to fix, repair or resolve.
    • Consults with other mechanics as needed to discuss problem or questions with any particular process or procedure.
    • Operates equipment after completing repairs to ensure satisfactory completion/resolution of problem(s).
    • Maintains current knowledge and skill need to diagnosed, fix or repair heavy equipment and trucks.
    • Maintains orderly work area to include wiping up spills, neatly storing tools an parts, properly discarding old or unused parts and materials, sweeping area and emptying trash receptacles as needed.
    • Wears personal protective equipment (PPE) as required or needed.
    • Maintain hand and power tools in good repair.
    • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or other management employees.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience:

    • HS Diploma or equivalent required. Preferred additional training in heavy equipment or truck engine repair. Must have 3 plus year related work experience or proficiency demonstrated through testing or hands on application.
    • Current, valid driver’s license required, Class A, B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.
    • Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
    • Must provide own tools.
    • Must perform brake and steering adjustments/repairs.
    • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplishment goals.

    Diesel Mechanic (2 Positions)

    SUMMARY

    Repairs heavy duty trucks and related equipment on the trucks.  Work on and repair related equipment associated with shop area and also other equipment in and around yard area.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    1) Reads job order and observes and listens to truck in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures.

    2) Diagnose and repair / replace various parts / components that have failed or are causing malfunctions on the equipment, such as transmission, engines, drain lines, rear axles, gear boxes, and hydraulic components.

    3) Troubleshoot and repair electrical problems relating to the equipment and its components.

    4) Diagnose and repair problems related to the hydraulic components of equipment.

    5) Diagnose and repair problems on the steering systems of equipment.

    6) Diagnose and repair problems on the brake system of equipment.

    7) Service equipment: i.e., grease trucks and related equipment, change oils / fluids.

    8) Welding of components necessary for repair of equipment and fabrication of components /parts necessary for repair of equipment.

    9) Operate torch cutting and gas welding equipment.

    10) Operate shop tools; i.e., power drill, power saw, and related power tools. Operate air tools, chipping guns and scalers, impact guns, and related air tools.

    11) Operate service truck or tow truck with required license.

    QUALIFICATIONS/JOB REQUIREMENTS 

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

    1)   Take orders, instructions, and guidance from supervisors and management.

    2)   Apply knowledge of mechanical functioning of various components on the equipment, and make necessary repairs related to the equipment as these problems occur.

    3)   Perform these jobs on an individual basis as well as being able to work with others in a group situations.

    4)   Work on various equipment in varying positions, either crawling under and/or laying on their back on top of or on a wheeled unit for various lengths of time. Work with wrenches and/or tools as described earlier in all of the above circumstances.  Do various jobs utilizing proper body mechanics.

    5)   Perform the jobs required to repair equipment according to US DOT regulations and specifications.

    6)   Comply with all company safety-related rules.  Work with safety related equipment to perform your duties.

    7)   Always make sure that the equipment being worked on is made safe for oneself and other employees before performing any work-related tasks.

    8)   Ability to understand written instructions and/or problems written up concerning necessary repairs required for various equipment malfunctions.

    9)   Ability to understand service/repair manuals relating to equipment/parts on which would be worked.

    10) Computer/keyboard skills/ and/or ability to learn through training.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Must be able to read and write English.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    JOB HAZARDS

    1)   There are periodically high noise levels and vibration associated with this job.  Sources include: engine noise, air compressors, air powered equipment, and other shop noises.  Also, there is possibly sufficient noise, either constant or intermittent, to cause possible hearing loss.

    2)   There are a variety of physical hazards in which there are dangers to life, health, or bodily injury,  such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving equipment, heavy parts, electrical  shock, engine exhaust, working on elevated equipment, exposure to burns and radiant energy, exposure to explosives (gases) and exposure to toxic chemicals and biological agents.

    3)   Machines, tools, equipment, and work aids which may be representative, but not all inclusive, of those commonly associated with this type of work.

    4)   Air power tools, electric drill, drill press, grinders (both hand and bench), wrenches, torches, welders, a variety of hand tools, air chipping hammers, and electric cords.

    Safety Coordinator

    1. SCOPE

    Responsible for assisting in the development, review, and management of all safety programs for the company and its affiliates.

    2. GOAL

    To develop and maintain a working corporate safety program which continually provides the safest possible working conditions for all employees.

    3. ACCOUNTABILITY

    The Safety and Security Director reports directly to the Manager of Human Resources, who will perform periodic performance appraisals of the Safety and Security Director.

    4. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

    1. Provides daily guidance and assists in the direction of the corporate safety programs; maintain all safety records.
    2. Continuously reviews, updates, and implements safety policies, procedures, preventative measures, training programs, and safety manual.
    3. Continually remains current on state laws and regulations pertaining to industrial and traffic safety and on issues and changes regarding OSHA, MOSHA, MSHA, ICC, DOT, BCMS, FMCSR, COMAR AND other related agencies, safety rules and regulations and MESDA. Ensuring that company is continuously compliant with all regulations.
    4. Performs safety audits of all plants at least monthly; prepares report of findings and safety violation notices as required. Works with the Operations Managers and General Manager of Land Development to ensure safe and proper working conditions at all plants sites and properties.
    5. Conducts safety meetings at least semi-annually with all operations personnel; periodic quarterly safety evaluation review to all employees.
    6. Directly interfaces with supervisors at all levels to enlist support for corporate safety programs and to provide guidance as required. Works with individual managers to establish safety goals and work with managers and employees to achieve the goals.
    7. Oversees safety training program; conducts training on safety with employees as required; provides safety orientation to all new employees.
    8. Helps investigate all vehicle accidents, damage-claims accidents, and work-related accidents involving personnel; assist in processing of all worker’s compensation, liability, and general insurance claims; reports all accidents to the HR/Risk Manager, and as appropriate, to the insurance company; corresponds with all involved parties until claims are resolved.
    9. Maintains continual liaisons with company insurance agent to review policy, endorsements, pricing, and coverage charges to insure proper risk management. Helps overall corporate HR/Risk Management to insure proper coverage. Provides appropriate recommendations to the HR/Risk Manager.
    10. Investigates driving records of all driver applicants for employment; periodically reviews driving records of all driver employees; investigates all citations and summons given to drivers; provides appropriate recommendations on action to management.
    11. Address security concerns of the company and coordinate with state and local law enforcement on security issues.
    12. Prepares and submits accurate quarterly MSHA report, monthly inter-company injury and accident report, and quarterly hours and injury report for the Mine and Safety Health Administration. Maintenance of all required OSHA and MSHA files at all satellite plants.
    13. Provides training for all operations personnel on safety related matters.
    14. Works together with the General Manager of Land Development to ensure safe conditions on all properties.
    15. Represents companies in safety related organizations as approved by the Human Resources/Risk Manager.
    16. Maintain a positive attitude.
    17. Possess a level of determination to successfully complete tasks, projects and career responsibilities.
    18. Take the initiative to start new tasks or projects or operate out of their area of influence.

    5. REQUIREMENTS

    1. Position requires individuals with high school diploma, or equivalent, college degree is preferred and minimum five years experience in a Risk Management, construction-industrial, safety environment.
    2. Additional qualifications may include a solid working knowledge of county, state, and federal regulations pertaining to health, safety, and the environment; OSHA and MSHA regulations; substance abuse detection and reporting procedures; and claims processing procedures.
    3. Individual should also possess strong communications, listening, and analytic skills and must have reliable transportation.

    6. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    1. Individuals must be presentable with a neat, well-groomed appearance. Necessary personality traits and mental abilities to include personable, mature well spoken with a good command of the English language, enthusiastic, organized and the ability to work in a sometimes stressful and hectic environment.
    2. Must be able to transport oneself to other plant sites and off-site locations.
    3. Must be able to climb, push, bend and pull-on various material handling and plant equipment to inspect it.
